World Space Week coincides with both the launching of Sputnik
I in October 4, 1957, and the adoption of the
declaration on the peaceful use of space on October
10/1967 |
Traditionally, our Astronomy Salon
coincides with the World
Space Week. This year again, we will have to
amenage it in order to make up from local circonstances:
Two years ago it was the October 3rd 2005 annular
eclipse, the year before it was election day, and
this year and the past one it is the fasting month
of Ramadhan which, receding every year by some 11
days, has now come during the World Space Week.
Holding the events during that month with its different
activities social wise is a no go, in addition to
the fact that most of the members of the various
associations would not be able to attend. We were
thus left with the option of delaying it a bit to
the week end after the end of Ramadhan. Yet we are
organizing a special event during the space week
itself. |
