The yearly National Salon in Popular Astronomy has become a Festival to emphasize the entertainment aspect of the event and the larger public we have in mind. The first Salon started back in 2002, and was formerly known as the Constantine Salon in Popular Astronomy. It is held in the context of the World Space Week celebrations. It also coincides with the commemoration of the 1st of November 1954 uprising, which started the Algerian war of liberation.
As usual, we expect a large participation from associations from abroad. In particular, we expect the participation of the AUASS (Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences), the JAS from Jordan, the SAF from France, the Association Jeunes-Science from Tunis, Djerba and other cities , the Tunisian Astronomical Society (SAT), the Cité des Sciences of Tunis and others which will confirm soon. In addition to the Salon held in the exposition hall of the Palais de la Culture, there will be a series of public lectures and specialized workshops in the evenings.
This year's theme chosen for World Space Week 2010 is : "Mysteries of the Cosmos" . As a subtheme, the National Fair organizing committee has chosen "The Realm of the Milky Way ", in view of the renewed interest about our "extended home", our Galaxy, and the great pace of recent discoveries concerning it.

Le Festival d'Astronomie 2010

Comme chaque année, Sirius organise une grande kermesse de l'astronomie à Constantine, qui est devenu un rendez-vous majeur de l'année pour les astronomes amateurs. Au programme, un salon proprement dit où exposent les différentes agences nationales liées au spatial (CTS, ASAL...), et l'astronomie (CRAAG, l'Ecole Doctorale d'Astrophysique), la Météo Nationale, la séismologie, la navigation aérienne, ainsi que les différents clubs et associations Algériennes qui présentent leurs réalisations scientifiques. Ce Salon traditionnellement se tient en conjonction avec la célébration de la Semaine Mondiale de l'Espace Elle acceuille comme d'habitude cette année nombre d’associations astronomiques étrangères dont l’Union Arabe d’Astronomie et des Sciences de l’Espace (AUASS), la Société Astronomique de France (SAF), l'Association Jeunes-Science de Tunis et de Djerba, la Societé Tunisienne d'Astronomie, la Lebanese Astronomical Society, la SAA de Syrie et d'autres dont nous attendons la reponse.
De plus sont organisés des conférences débats, ateliers et concours qui lui donnent un cachet propre. Cette manifestation est ouverte au public et accueille chaque année de très nombreux visiteurs.
Le thème de la Semaine Mondiale de l'Espace 2010 cette année est "Les Mystères de l'Univers ". Comme subthème, le Comité d'Organisation du Salon a choisi celui de "Notre Voie Lactée " au vue du regain d'intéret que suscite notre Galaxie pour les chercheurs et le flot de nouvelles découvertes concernant sa structure, composition et évolution..
