The 8th National Fair in Popular Astronomy ... 29 October-1Nov 2009, Constantine, Algeria... World Space Week 2009 ... International Year of Astronomy 2009 .... Popular Science in Action

The Eighth National Fair in Popular Astronomy

The yearly National Salon in Popular Astronomy will start again this year after the Ramadhan. The first Salon started back in 2002, and was formerly known as the Constantine Salon in Popular Astronomy. It is held in the context of the World Space Week celebrations. It also coincides with the commemoration of the 1st of November 1954 uprising, which started the Algerian war of liberation.
This year will see a large participation from associations from abroad. In particular, we expect the participation of the AUASS (Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences, Amman) from Jordan, the SAF from France, the Association Jeunes-Science from Tunis and Djerba, the Tunisian Astronomical Society, and others which will confirm soon. In addition to the Salon held in the exposition hall of the Palais de la Culture, there will be a series of public lectures and specialized workshops.
This year's theme has been chosen for World Space Week 2009 is : Space and Education. As a subtheme, the National Fair organizing committee has chosen in consonance with the International year of Astronomy 2009 "Astronomy and the enlightenment of the mind",
in consonance with the International year of Astronomy 2009. It will deal with the way Astronomy has led thhe way in finding about our surrounding world and ubnderstanding it.
