The yearly National Salon in Popular Astronomy will start again this year after the Ramadhan. The first Salon started back in 2002, and was formerly known as the Constantine Salons in Popular Astronomy. It is held in the context of the World Space Week celebrations. It also coincides with the commemoration of the 1st of November 1954 uprising, which started the Algerian war of liberation.
This year will see a wider participation from associations from abroad. In particular, we expect the participation of the AUASS (Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences, Amman) from Jordan, the SAF from France, Association Jeunes-Science from Tunis, from Greece, Iran and others which will confirm soon. In addition to the Salon held in the exposition hall of the Palais de la Culture, there will be a series of public lectures and specialized workshops.
This year's theme of the has been chosen for World Space Week 2009 is : Exploring the Universe. As a subtheme,the National Fair organizing committee has chosen to take the opening up of the field of extrasolar astronomy. It will deal with this new vista in Astronomy which will no doubt led us to a new understanding of planetary systems and will at term help us better understand our own solar environment and its origin.
It is befitting for the Algerian public to be cognizant of these new scientific avenues opening up.

Ce Salon Populaire, cru 2008

Comme chaque année, Sirius organise une grande kermesse de l'astronomie à Constantine, qui est devenu un rendez-vous majeur de l'année pour les astronomes amateurs. Au programme, un salon proprement dit où exposent les différentes agences nationales liées au spatial (CTS, ASAL...), et l'astronomie (CRAAG, l'Ecole Doctorale d'Astrophysique), la météo nationale, la séismologie, la navigation aérienne, ainsi que les différents clubs et associations qui présentent leurs réalisations scientifiques. Ce Salon traditionnellement se tient en conjonction avec la célébration de la Semaine Mondiale de l'Espace Elle a comme d'habitude cette année encore une flaveur internationale prononcée avec la participation de nombre d’associations astronomiques étrangères dont l’Union Arabe d’Astronomie et des Sciences de l’Espace (AUASS), la Société Astronomique de France (SAF), l'Association Jeunes-Science de Tunisie, d'autres du Liban, d’Iran, du Koweït, de Grèce etc.
De plus sont organisés des conférences débats, ateliers et concours qui lui donnent un cachet propre. Cette manifestation est ouverte au public et accueille chaque année de très nombreux visiteurs.
Le thème choisi cette année pour célébrer l'Année Mondiale de l'Astronomie est : "l'Exploration de l'Univers". Comme subthème, le comité d'organisation du Salon a choisi celui de des "Mondes Extrasolaires", ce nouveau chapitre de l'Astronomie qui est en train de s'écrire et qui va peut'être permettre de revolutionariser notre compréhension de la physique des sytèmes planétaires, et à terme, de mieux comprendre notre propre système solaire et son origine.
