This year is the tenth National Festival in Popular Astronomy. This epoch making popular meeting which brings together amateur and professional astronomers from all over the region is thus celebrating its Ten years of achievement in making the Sciences of the Universe at the center of the public's interest. Its variety of activities has made it throughout the years a much sought rendez vous. Like usual, this year come with its share of surprises.
Let us add that the first Salon started back in 2002, and was formerly known as the Constantine Salon in Popular Astronomy. It is held in the context of the World Space Week celebrations. It also coincides with the commemoration of the 1st of November 1954 uprising, which started the Algerian war of liberation.
As usual, we expect a large participation from associations from abroad. In particular, we expect the participation of the AUASS (Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences), the JAS from Jordan, the SAF from France, the Association Jeunes-Science from Tunis, Djerba, the Tunisian Astronomical Society (SAT), the Cité des Sciences of Tunis and others which will confirm soon. In addition to the Salon held in the exposition hall of the Palais de la Culture, there will be a series of public lectures and specialized workshops in the evenings.
This year's theme chosen for World Space Week 2011 is : "50 Years of Space Flights" and as a slogan we adopted: "Gagarine's Revolution: Opening the Last Frontier".

Le Festival d'Astronomie 2011

Pour la dixième fois cette année et ce depuis 2002, Sirius organise durant le weekend du 1er Novembre une grande kermesse de l'astronomie à Constantine qui est le rendez-vous annuel majeur pour les amateurs Algériens et d'antres horizons. Au programme, un salon proprement dit où exposent les différentes agences nationales liées au spatial (CTS, ASAL...), et l'astronomie (CRAAG, l'Ecole Doctorale d'Astrophysique), la Météo Nationale, la séismologie, ainsi que les différents clubs et associations Algériennes qui présentent leurs réalisations scientifiques. Ce Festival traditionnellement se tient en conjonction avec la célébration de la Semaine Mondiale de l'Espace. Elle acceuille comme d'habitude nombre d’associations astronomiques étrangères dont l’Union Arabe de l’Astronomie et des Sciences de l’Espace (AUASS), la Société Astronomique de France (SAF), l'Association Jeunes-Science de Tunis et de Djerba, la Societé Tunisienne d'Astronomie, la Lebanese Astronomical Society, la JAS (Jordan Astronomical Society) de Jordanie et d'autres dont nous attendons la réponse.
De plus sont organisés des conférences débats, ateliers et concours qui lui donnent un cachet propre. Cette manifestation est ouverte au public et accueille chaque année de très nombreux visiteurs.
Le thème de la Semaine Mondiale de l'Espace 2011 cette année est "50 Années d'Exploration Spatiale" et comme slogan nous avons pris: "La Révolution Gagarine: l'Espace, la Dernière Frontière". Please proceed to the Program.
